Competitors may enter the pits at any time while the Safety Car is on course, but may not re-enter the racing circuit unless directed by a marshal.  The pit exit will close at the moment that the Safety Car passes a predefined point, which will be announced in the Drivers’ Briefing and will re-open when the Safety Car and main pack of cars have passed pit exit.

23.5       End of Operation:

When the course is clear, the Race Director will instruct the Safety Car to extinguish its safety lights to indicate that the end of the Safety Car intervention is about to occur.  The Safety Car will exit the course at the pit entrance area and the field will be under Starter’s orders.  On the restart, the Starter will display the green flag and the yellow flags will be dropped.

Special Safety Car procedures for a given event will be discussed at the Drivers’ Briefing.
