Jenkins Wins In Front Of Home Crowd

Saturday, Aug. 4, Portland Int'l Raceway--Scott Jenkins won his second Star Mazda Series race with all of his hometown family, friends and fans watching at Portland Int'l Raceway. From the third starting spot in the 45-car field, Jenkins avoided getting involved in any of several on-track incidents to lead all but the first aborted start lap. Finishing second was rookie Marc De Vellis in his first trip to the podium. De Vellis also set the race's fast lap. Rounding out the top three was Chad Block, his third top three finish of the season. The complete official results are pending, however, as officials review footage from the race and post-race technical questions are resolved. --Jane Anderson
