RELEASE LEADING THE CHARGE
TO VICTORY When the Green Flag
signals the start of the X-Factor Grand Prix of Sonoma, Round 3 of the
American Le Mans Series, at Sears Point Raceway, July 22, the two car
McKenna Porsche GT team will be ready to lead the charge to victory. Showcasing the talents
of four of the best sports car drivers in the world, Lucas Luhr, Sascha
Maassen, Randy Pobst and Christian Menzel, this top-ranked team will be
looking for their third American win of the 2001 season. Under the leadership of
Alex Job Racing, the Number 22 and 23 McKenna Porsches earned the top two
GT spots at both Sebring and Texas. In addition, they also took a
1-2 victory in Donington, England, Round 1 of the European Le Mans Series. “After a long break,
we are really looking forward to Sears Point,” say McKenna Porsche
principals Danny McKenna and Neil Okun. “We are extremely proud of
Alex Job Racing and all four drivers and have our fingers crossed for a
continued winning season.” One of the most
successful privateer teams in the American Le Mans Series, Alex Job knows
exactly what it takes to win. Having top drivers and excellent
vehicles is only part of the equation. Crew performance and race
strategy are also extremely important. “Car set up, precise
fuel calculations and knowing the right moment to pit are crucial
elements,” explains Alex Job. “Numerous races are either won or
lost in the pits. So far this season, we’ve been lucky, but we
have our work cut out for us at this race. The new BMWs are
extremely strong. We’ve been working on our cars since Spain and
hopefully the improvements we have made will stand us in good stead.” Nestled in the hills of
California’s win country, Sears Point Raceway has hosted the American Le
Mans Series for the past two years. Racing
for 2 hours, forty-five minutes on the 11-turn, 2.52-mile track, drivers
will qualify on Saturday, July 21 at 4:55 PM, with the race getting
underway, Sunday, July 22 at Noon. ### |
